New Oversize Connecting Rod Bearings Have Improved Design And Material

Usage:

5.4"
Bore V-Type Engines (90°
V-8 and Earlier 60°
V-Type) In All Applications

Description of Change: New oversize connecting rod bearings are available for the above engines. The new bearings are made of high strength aluminum alloy (mixture) material, and have the later design with the tab (ear) bonded (fastened) to the outer surface of the bearing. This design gives a better inner bearing surface for longer service life.

The new oversize bearings have an outside diameter .010" (0.25 mm) larger than standard, and are available for either standard or undersize crankshafts. These bearings are for use with connecting rods that have the bore out of round (not round), but are not damaged too much to be machined and used again. Never use a connecting rod that has much damage from a bad bearing failure and/or has been very hot as shown by a blue color.

Adaptable As: Direct replacement.

INSTALLATION: For installation information, order Special Instruction Form SMHS7016 (Formerly FM055155) "Installation of Oversize Connecting Rod Bearings".
