Exhaust Manifold Coupling With A Slip Fit Now Used Instead Of A Coupling With Piston Rings

Usage:

3408 Truck and Industrial Engines, 3412 Industrial Engines

Description of Change: An exhaust manifold coupling with a slip fit is now used instead of a coupling with piston-type rings. Tests have shown the coupling with a slip fit will prevent leaks for a longer period of time than the coupling with piston-type rings.

Adaptable To: All 3408 and 3412 Engines except Industrial and Marine Engines equipped with water-cooled exhaust manifolds.

INSTALLATION: Check the inside diameter of the elbows that the coupling fits into for existing wear. If the elbows have too much wear replace them before a new coupling is installed.

Put a thin application of high-temperature sealant on the outside diameter of each end of the coupling before installation.
