Steer Pivot Reassembly

Usage:

A. Reassembling The Steer Pivot

NOTICE

Inspect all parts for damage or excessive wear before reassembly. Repair or replace parts as necessary.

1. Make sure machine is resting on a level surface. Both drums must be blocked, and the front and rear frame must be supported with hardwood blocks (or other suitable material).

2. Prior to reassembly, run grease through zerks to clean passages. Be sure all parts are clean and free from foreign matter before reassembling.

3. Install front frame to articulation link connecting point as follows:

a. Tap bearing spacer into lower ear of front frame.

b. Hold articulation link in place between ears of the front frame.

NOTICE

Make sure bushing is adjusted in the articulation link to allow insertion of the pivot pin in the next step.

c. Tap pivot pin through the front frame and through the bushing in articulation link. Work carefully to avoid damaging bushing.

NOTICE

Make sure bearing spacer stays in place after inserting pivot pin.

d. Install pivot pin spacer and pivot pin retainer to the front frame with two bolts and washers.

e. Secure the pivot pin in the connecting point with one bolt and washer.

------ WARNING! ------

The front frame and drum assembly weighs approximately 908 kg (2000 lb.). Avoid possible injury or damage. Do not engage the pivot before securely attaching a proper lifting device and adequately supporting related parts or components.

--------WARNING!------

NOTICE

When engaging the pivot, feed the hydraulic hose cluster through the front frame carefully to avoid damaging hoses or fittings.

4. Using a forklift, hoist, or other lifting device of required capacity, unblock the front drum and frame assembly and carefully roll toward the rear frame to engage pivot.

5. Adjust the position of the front frame so the bushing in the front frame aligns with the pivot pin holes in the rear frame.

NOTICE

Make sure bushing is adjusted in the front frame to allow insertion of the pivot pin.

6. Reblock the front drum and frame. Make sure frame is adequately blocked.

------ WARNING! ------

Check to make sure both drums are securely blocked and that the machine is properly supported by the hardwood blocks. Failure to do this could cause the machine to fall, causing serious injury or death.

--------WARNING!------
