Description of Change: A new washer is used in the 9Y5710 Auxiliary (Sea Water) Pump Group. The new washer is made of steel with a sealing insert which replaces the former copper washer. The new washer is used on three of the six mounting bolts located between the drive adapter housing and the engine front timing gear housing. The steel washers eliminate the problem of copper washer "yielding" with resultant loss of bolt torque.
Adaptable To: The part number for the 9Y5710 Auxiliary (Sea Water) Pump Group has not changed. The new 5R7136 Washer replaces the former 4K9841 Washer. See the illustration for the location of the new washer. This change is adaptable to first production. For the correct torque specification, refer to the Disassembly And Assembly Manual, Form SENR2377-01.
