Procedure to Replace Solenoid Valve on Main Control Valve for Certain 307.5, 308, 309, 310 Mini Hydraulic Excavators {5051, 5264, 5479}

Introduction

The special instruction contains a procedure for applying proper torque on solenoid cap screws on the main control valve.

Do not perform any procedure in this Special Instruction until you have read the information and you understand the information.

Before servicing/performing maintenance on the machine, electrical power must be physically disconnected; battery plugs must be disconnected from the batteries, or the trailing cable must be unplugged, and warning tags and padlocks shall be applied by a certified electrician. Certified electricians shall perform or direct any electrical work, including any energized testing, repair work in controllers, motors, or other approved compartments, and shall insure that all compartments are properly closed and inspected prior to re-energization. All applicable lock out and tag out procedures must be followed.

    Machine position

  1. Position the machine on level ground and adjust the stick in the vertical position. Refer to Illustration 3. Release the hydraulic system pressure, then disconnect the battery switch.

  2. Open machine RH side door (H). Remove four bolts (J) and four washers (K) and remove the cover (L). Save all parts. Refer to Illustration 4.

    (Q) Water separator sensor

  3. Disconnect the harness (M) from the solenoids on the main control valve. Disconnect the harness from water separator sensor (Q). Remove the strap (N) and disconnect the harness from the hydraulic pressure sensor (P). Refer to Illustration 5.

  4. Remove two bolts (Q) and washers (R) and keep the parts. Remove the harness (M) and bracket (S) from the main control valve. Hang the bracket and harness on top of the main control valve. Refer to Illustration 7.

  5. If a leak is found, remove the two bolts (T) and solenoid valve. Retain the hardware. Refer to Illustration 8.

  6. Install new solenoid valve to the main control valve. Tighten to 2.7 ± 0.7 N·m (23.9 ± 6.2 lb in)

  7. Reinstall harness (M) to solenoid block. Refer to Illustration 9and 10.

  8. Install the bracket (S) to the main control valve using two bolts (Q) and washers (R) to 15 ± 4 N·m (133 ± 35 lb in).

  9. Connect water separator sensor (Q). Connect the hydraulic pressure sensor (P) and use strap (N) to fix the harness. Refer to Illustration 12.

  10. Reinstall cover (L) with four washers (K) and four bolts (J). Tighten to 12 ± 4 N·m (106 ± 35 lb in). Close the side door (H).
