--------------- END SUPPLEMENT ---------------

The 8S4275 Water Seal between the cylinder block and cylinder head in D348 Engines was replaced by 2W3797 Water Seal. This change was effective with 57K1328, and 98S2870. The 8S4275 Water Seal has now been reinstated and is available for service in place of the 2W3797 Water Seal.

The 2W3797 Water Seal is made of an EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Modified) rubber seal with a nylon insert. When it comes in contact with oil, the EPDM material may swell and deteriorate over a period of time. This can cause coolant leaks. The 8S4275 Water Seal is made out of silicone and is highly resistant to oil. It also has a brass insert.
