Standard Diameter Crankshafts Meeting Marine Society Approval Requirements Are Available Through Caterpillar Remanufactured Products Program

Usage:

Caterpillar Marine Engines

Where available, "Upgrade-To-New" crankshafts in the Caterpillar Remanufactured Products Program are now approved by marine societies. These are NEW crankshafts with STANDARD diameter journals.

The chart lists the "Upgrade-To-New" crankshafts that are available through the Caterpillar Remanufactured Products Program. These "Upgrade-To-New" crankshafts qualify for marine society approval. The purchase prices of the "Upgrade-To-New" crankshafts are lower because of the value of the returned core. As a result, a customer can save substantially over the price of a new part if he has a regrindable crankshaft in exchange.

Whenever a replacement crankshaft needs marine society certification, request a physical properties report through your regular Caterpillar Engine order analyst or regular subsidiary engine order division. When a physical properties report is requested, the heat code from the crankshaft must be provided. Caterpillar will furnish a metallurgical report for the local surveyor who is overseeing the engine rebuild. There in no additional charge for this service for genuine Caterpillar Remanufactured "Upgrade-To-New" Marine Engine Crankshafts.
