Engine Oil Filter Element Has Metal Wrapper Instead Of Paper Wrapper

Usage:

4W4840 Element Assemblies In Listed Models

Description of Change: A stronger metal wrapper has replaced the paper wrapper in the 4W4840 Element Assemblies used for the engine oil filter. The paper wrapper could break apart, allowing paper particles to collect on the dirty side of the filter paper. This required cleaning out the paper particles in the filter housing or base every time the filters were replaced.

Adaptable To: The new elements can be used as direct replacements for the former elements. Part number did not change. Except for the D379, G379, D398, G398, D399 and G399 Engines, this filter is used on many noncurrent engines, motor graders and tractors.
