Stronger Cylinder Heads Used

Usage:

Uprated 3500 Series Engines

Description of Change: Stronger cylinder heads are being used on uprated 3500 Series Engines. These heads have additional casting material.

Adaptable To: The new cylinder heads are adaptable to all earlier 3500 Series Engines, and will be furnished for parts service regardless of the power rating. The new connector for the inlet fuel line must be used because the inlet hole is smaller in the new cylinder heads.

The new inlet connector does not have an internal filter screen. Make sure the fuel injector used with the new head has screens. The injectors on earlier engines do not contain screens because the fuel line connectors on these engines contained a screen. All injectors available through parts service and all Remanufactured Injectors now contain screens.

Use Special Instruction SMHS7536 when installing the parts service cylinder head.
