Start By:

  1. Remove the aftercooler. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Aftercooler - Remove".


NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.



NOTICE

Inspect all O-rings, seals, and gaskets for wear and damage. Replace if necessary.



NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

  1. Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to aftercooler housing (2). The weight of aftercooler housing (2) is approximately 22 kg (48.5lb).

  2. Remove 31 bolts (1) and aftercooler housing (2).

  3. Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to aftercooler housing (4). The weight of aftercooler housing (2) is approximately 27 kg (59.5 lb).

  4. Remove 25 bolts (3) and aftercooler housing (4).
