Usage:

There are several specific messages on these machines. The exact location of the messages and the description of the messages are reviewed in this section. Become familiarized with all messages.

Make sure that all the messages are legible. Clean the messages or replace the messages if the words or images are unreadable. When you clean the messages, use a cloth, water, and soap. Do not use solvent, gasoline, or other harsh chemicals to clean the messages. Solvents, gasoline, or harsh chemicals could loosen the adhesive that secures the messages. Loose adhesive will allow the messages to separate from the machine.

Replace any message that is damaged, or missing. If a message is attached to a part that is replaced, install a message on the replacement part. Any Caterpillar dealer can provide new messages.

This message is located inside the cab.

Do not work on the air conditioning system until you have read the service manual and you understand the service manual.

This message is located near the filler cap for the cooling system. This machine is shipped from the factory with ELC.

This message is located near the batteries, the near battery disconnect switch, and near the power receptacle. This machine is equipped with a 24V electrical system.

No Lifting Point

This message is on the shipping eyes that are on the frame rails. Do not use this location as a lifting point.

Diesel Fuel Recommendations

This message is located near any diesel fuel fill points. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Lubricant Viscosities (Fluids Recommendations)" for more information.

Wait 30 Seconds Before Attempting To Restart

This message is on the dash. If the engine fails to start, allow starter to stop completely before re-engagement. Wait 30 seconds before attempting to restart. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Engine Starting" for more information.

Wait to Disconnect

Do not turn off the battery disconnect switch until the light has turned off. If the battery disconnect switch is turned off when the light is illuminated, the DEF system will not purge and DEF could freeze and damage the pump and the lines.

This message is located near the bracket for the wheel chocks (if equipped). Use proper lift and carry techniques when the wheel chocks are handled. Consider using two persons to lift and maneuver each wheel chock.
