New Transmission Control Valve And Pressure Relief Valve Are Used With High Flow Oil Pump

Usage:

7251 (74E, 4GB) And 7261 (89B, 6LB) Marine Transmissions

Reference: ENGINE NEWS, OCTOBER 26, 1983, the article "Larger Oil Pump Used To Give Better Clutch Cooling And Bearing Lubrication" gives information on a new high flow hydraulic oil pump, used on 7251 and 7261 Marine Transmissions.

Description of Change: A new transmission control valve group and pressure relief valve are used with the high flow oil pump on 7251 and 7261 Marine Transmissions. The high flow 4T4093 Hydraulic Oil Pump Group now used on these transmissions, could cause unacceptable pressure pulsations and valve chatter under certain conditions. The new valves help control the pressure pulsations and eliminate valve chatter in these transmissions.

Adaptable As: The new 7T673 Control Valve Group and 7T672 Relief Valve, when used together, are a direct replacement for both the former 3T4570 Control Valve Group and 3T2296 Relief Valve on 7251 Marine Transmissions, and the former 7L5392 Control Valve Group and 3N4485 Relief Valve on 7261 Marine Transmissions.

NOTE: Transmissions built with the former low flow 7L5553 Hydraulic Oil Pump Group will continue to be serviced by the 7L5392 Control Valve Group (7261 Marine Transmissions), and the 3T4570 Control Valve Group (7251 Marine Transmissions), respectively.

The new 7T673 Control Valve Group and 7T672 Relief Valve are in effect on 7251 and 7261 Marine Transmissions as shown in the chart.
