Engine Starting

Usage:

120 Y9C
If a warning tag is attached to the engine start switch or to the machine controls, do not start the engine. Also, do not move any machine controls.

  1. Adjust the operator seat.

  2. Fasten the seat belt.

  3. Before you start the engine, check for the presence of bystanders or maintenance personnel. Ensure that all personnel are clear of the machine. Briefly sound the horn before you start the engine.

  4. Engage the parking brake.

  5. Place the transmission control switch in NEUTRAL.

  6. Turn the key to the on position.

  7. Align the left-hand joystick relative to the position of the front wheels. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Operator Controls - Joystick Steering Alignment" for more information.

  8. Turn and hold the key in the start position. Once the engine starts, release the ignition key.

  9. Confirm steering control by actuating the steering control with the left joystick. If the steering is not engaged, the primary steering indicator will illuminate. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Monitoring System" for more information. Realign the left joystick if necessary.

  10. Disengage the parking brake.

  11. Select your desired FORWARD or REVERSE direction and select your requested gear.

Diesel engine exhaust contains products of combustion which can be harmful to your health. Always start the engine in a ventilated area. Always operate the engine in a ventilated area. If you are in an enclosed area, vent the exhaust to the outside.
