Engine Starting

Diesel engine exhaust contains products of combustion which may be harmful to your health Always start and operate the engine in a well-ventilated area and, if in an enclosed area, vent the exhaust to the outside. |
- Adjust the operator seat.
- Fasten the seat belt.
- Before you start the engine, check for the presence of bystanders or maintenance personnel. Ensure that all personnel are clear of the machine. Briefly sound the forward horn before you start the engine.
- Engage the parking brake.
- Place the transmission control switch in NEUTRAL.
- Turn the engine key switch to the on position and allow all indicators and gauges to cycle.
- Turn the engine key switch to the start position to start the engine.
- Release the engine key switch when the engine starts.
- Confirm steering control by actuating the steering control with the left joystick. If the steering is not engaged the primary steering indicator will illuminate. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Monitoring System" for more information. Realign the left joystick if necessary.
- Disengage the parking brake.
- Select your requested gear and select your desired FORWARD or REVERSE direction.
