Introduction
The problem that is identified below does not have a known permanent solution. Until a permanent solution is known, use the solution that is identified below.
Problem
Fuel level may be reported intermittently on certain Cat® products when PL6 is installed. The machine Electronic Control Module (ECM) sends a "0%" fuel level at engine OFF to Cat® Product Link ECM. The Product Link ECM sends this fuel level information either immediately after engine OFF or at next engine ON depending on how long Product Link ECM remains powered after engine OFF.
Solution
Caterpillar is aware of this problem, but an interim repair action has not been identified. If you encounter this issue, contact your Cat Technical Communicator (TC) for further support.
