A New NOx Reduction System Cooler Group and Water Lines Group Is Now Used on Certain C13 Tier 4 Engines {1061, 1087, 108C, 1380}

Description Of Change: The NOx Reduction System (NRS) cooler group has a more robust design and the water lines group is changing to adapt to new cooler.

Adaptable To: The following changes are adaptable to the products within the listed serial numbers, and are effective with all products after the listed serial numbers.

The new 449-3070 Exhaust Cooler and Mounting Gp (NRS) replaces the former 342-6228 Exhaust Cooler Gp (NRS).

The new 485-7150 Water Lines Gp replaces the former 343-8862 Water Lines Gp on C13 Industrial engines.

The new 498-1139 Water Lines Gp replaces the former 342-6224 Water Lines Gp on C13 engines in Claas® machines.

  1. Drain the coolant into a suitable container for reuse or disposal.

  2. Remove and set aside the air inlet hose and clamps for reuse.

  3. Remove and set aside the NRS vent line and associated hardware for reuse.

  4. Remove and discard the two band clamps.

  5. Remove the rear 334-9855 Elbow.

  6. Remove and discard the 334-9855 Elbow. Set aside the associated hardware for reuse.

  7. Remove and discard the front water lines. Set aside the associated hardware for reuse.

  8. Remove and discard the NOx Reduction system (NRS) cooler. Set aside the associated hardware for reuse.

  9. Remove and discard the bellows assembly and clamp.

  10. Remove and discard the 452-8526 Heat Shield As. Set aside the associated hardware for reuse.

  11. Install the 514-6555 Shield As with the original hardware.

  12. Install NRS cooler (3) onto the engine with three bolts (1), three washers (2), two bolts (4), and two washers (5). Refer to Illustration 6 for the correct location of the hardware.

  13. Attach bellows assembly (7) to the 350-4503 Exhaust Manifold with one clamp (6).

    Note: Make sure that the bellows assembly is installed correctly with the direction of flow.

    Tighten clamp ... 7.5 ± 1 N·m (66 ± 9 lb in)

  14. Attach bellows assembly (7) to NRS cooler (3) with one clamp (6).

  15. Attach the 344-8272 Air Tube to NRS cooler (3) with one clamp (6).

  16. Install plug (12) into elbow (13).

  17. Install one O-ring (14) onto elbow (13).

  18. Remove the 262-7221 Tube from the 353-2898 Elbow.

    Note: A new 8T-5917 O-Ring Seal is in the kit in case the 353-2898 Elbow is removed.

  19. Install two O-rings (15) onto the 262-7221 Tube.

  20. Install elbow (13) onto the 262-7221 Tube.

  21. Install elbow (13) into the bottom of the NRS cooler.

  22. Secure elbow (13) to the NRS cooler with two bolts (10) and two washers (11).

  23. Install one O-ring (15) onto water tube assembly (18).

  24. Install water tube assembly (18) into the oil cooler.

  25. Attach water tube assembly (18) to the NRS cooler with one gasket (19), two bolts (16), and two washers (17).

  26. Install clips (25) and (26) around water tube assembly (18).

  27. Attach bracket (22) to loosely brackets (25) and (26) with one bolt (23) and one washer (24).

    Note: If the NRS is on a C13 in a Claas machine, use bracket (27) instead of bracket (22).

  28. Attach bracket (22) to the engine with one bolt (20) and one washer (21).

    Note: If the NRS is on a C13 in a Claas machine, use bracket (27) instead of bracket (22).

  29. Tighten bolt (23) that was left loose.

  30. Reinstall the air inlet hose with the original hardware.

  31. Reinstall the NRS vent line with the original hardware.

  32. Refill the radiator and engine with coolant.
