Description Of Change: The new software used combines the cold and hot calibrations and automatically switches based on the ambient temperature to reduce smoke output.

Adaptable To: The following changes are adaptable to the products within the listed serial numbers, and are effective with all products after the listed serial numbers.

The new 463-3919 Engine Software replaces the previous 432-2365 Engine Ratings Electronic Software Gp.

If the smoke output is not reduced with the software upgrade, there is a new tuning feature in Cat® Electronic Technician (ET) available.

Note: Cat ET version 2016C or later is needed to complete this adjustment.

The changes need to made with the engine power on but the engine not running.

The new default ambient switching temperature is 0° C with an adjustable range of −15° C to 15° C.

Note: Usually, the switching temperature should not be changed from the default value. But the temperature can be lowered if significant black smoke is experienced at moderate load after full warmup.

If white smoke and instability are experienced at moderate load after full warmup, raise the ambient switching temperature. Raise or lower the switching temperature in 5° C increments is recommended.
