Engine Oil Pan - Remove and Install

Usage:

C12.9 PC7

Removal Procedure

Start By:

  1. Remove belt guard.

  2. Remove oil line (Supercharger)

Hot oil and hot components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot oil or hot components to contact the skin.



NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.



NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.


  1. Drain the engine oil.

  2. Drain the coolant.

  3. Remove bolt (1) and bolts (4). Remove tube assembly (2). Remove bolts (5) and position tube assembly (3) out of the way.

  4. Loosen clamps (6). Remove bolts (7) and bolts (9). Remove tube assembly (8).

  5. Loosen clamp (10) and position hose assembly (11) out of the way. Disconnect tube assembly (12).

  6. Remove six bolts (13). Remove ten bolts (15) and remove oil pan (14).

Installation Procedure


NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

  1. Install engine oil pan (14) in the reverse order of removal.

    1. Tighten bolts (13) and bolts (15) to a torque of 30 ± 3 N·m (266 ± 27 lb in)in the order depicted in illustration 5.

    2. Tighten tube assembly (12) to a torque of 25 ± 3 N·m (221 ± 27 lb in).

    3. Tighten clamp (10) to a torque of 3.25 ± 0.25 N·m (29 ± 2 lb in).

    4. Tighten bolts (9) to a torque of 23 ± 2 N·m (204 ± 18 lb in).

    5. Tighten clamps (6) to a torque of 3.25 ± 0.25 N·m (29 ± 2 lb in).

    6. Tighten bolts (5) to a torque of 23 ± 2 N·m (204 ± 18 lb in).

    7. Tighten bolts (4) to a torque of 80 ± 8 N·m (59 ± 6 lb ft).

    8. Tighten bolt (1) to a torque of 23 ± 2 N·m (204 ± 18 lb in).
