Selective Catalytic Reduction Retrofit Aftertreatment Caterpillar

System Overview

Usage:

SCR EF5
The engine is designed for electronic control of most engine operating functions. The electronic system consists of an Electronic Control Module (ECM), the wiring harness, switches, sensors, and fuel injectors. The engine ECM receives information from the sensors and the switches on the engine. The engine ECM processes the information that is collected to control the engine. By altering the fuel delivery with the fuel injectors, the engine ECM controls the speed and the power that is produced by the engine.

Product Status Report

The Product Status Report is a feature that is available through Cat® Electronic Technician (ET). The Product Status Report allows a download of all the information that is stored in the ECM. This information includes ECM information about the active and logged codes, totals, configuration settings, and histograms.

In addition to the information listed above, there may be additional information depending on the ECM that is pulling the product status report (engine, transmission, machine, implement, display, and so on).

This information can be used to determine how the equipment is set up from the factory. The information can be sent to the Dealer Solutions Network (DSN) for review to aid in diagnosis of issues, and can be used to aid in keeping records on the equipment.

The product status report is available in Cat ET under the "Information" tab or on the toolbar at the top of the screen.

Electronic Controls

Electronic Control Module

The ECM consists of two main components, the control computer (hardware) and the flash file (software). The control computer consists of a microprocessor and electronic circuitry. The flash file contains the operational characteristics of the engine. The operating maps influence the performance of the engine.
