NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.



NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.


  1. Drain the engine oil. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Engine Oil and Filter - Change" for the proper draining and filling procedures.

  2. Remove bolts (1), bolts (3), and tube assembly (2).

  3. Use a suitable lifting device to remove oil pan assembly (5). The weight of oil pan assembly (5) is approximately 98 kg (216 lb).

  4. Remove bolts (4), oil pan assembly (5), and the gasket.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install oil pan assembly (5) in the reverse order of removal.

    1. Apply Tooling (A) above and below the gasket as required prior to assembly.

    2. Apply Tooling (B) to the threads of bolts (4) as required.
