Shutoff Valve Leaking on Engine Oil Pan on Certain C4.4 Engines{1307}
- Generator Set:
- C4.4 (S/N: MZT100-126)
Introduction
An issue on certain C4.4 engine with 467-3443 Engine Oil Drain Lines Gp . An oil leak at the point of where the 6V-7238 Shutoff Valve is installed into the engine oil pan.
Problem
The 171-9952 Washer may not have been installed, due to incorrect assembly instructions.
Solution
During the next scheduled maintenance interval or the customer highlight an oil leak in the engine oil pan area. Inspect the 6V-7238 Shutoff Valve for signs of an engine oil leak. If an oil leak is observed from the shutoff valve. Follow Step 2 through Step 4 in order to remove and install the shutoff valve.
- Drain the engine lubricating oil the engine oil pan. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Engine Oil and Filter - Change" for correct procedure.
- If necessary, loosen any hose clamp and remove any hose assembly from the shutoff valve. Loosen the nut on the shutoff valve and remove the shutoff valve from the engine oil pan.
- Clean the shutoff valve and the engine oil pan. Remove the sealing washer from the shutoff valve if installed. Install a new 171-9952 Washer to the shutoff valve.
- Install the shutoff valve to the engine oil pan. Use a suitable tool in order to hold the shutoff valve in the correct position and tighten the nut to a torque of 30 N·m (266 lb in). Ensure that the shutoff valve is correctly orientated.
- If necessary, install any hose assembly to the shutoff valve and tighten any hose clamp securely.
- Fill the engine oil pan to the correct level. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Engine Oil and Filter - Change" for correct procedure.
