Start By:
- Remove the starting motor.
- Remove the manual barring group.
- Remove the camshaft drive gear.
- Remove the crankshaft rear seal.

- Remove the bolts that hold the engine oil pan to the rear housing.

Illustration 1 g01296983 - Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to the top of rear housing (2). The weight of rear housing (2) is approximately
210 kg (465 lb) .Note: Ensure that all the bolts have been removed from the inside and the outside of the rear housing before you remove the rear housing.
- Remove bolts (1) that hold rear housing (2) to the cylinder block. Carefully move rear housing (2) away from the cylinder block.
- Remove the gasket and the O-ring seals from the cylinder block.

- Place the gasket and the O-ring seals in position on the rear of the cylinder block.
- Trim the gasket that is located between the rear housing and the cylinder block. Trim this gasket even with the bottom of the cylinder block.
- Apply Tooling (B) to the engine oil pan and replace the section of the gasket for the engine oil pan. Apply Tooling (C) to the top of the section of the new gasket. Apply Tooling (C) to the intersection of the cylinder block, engine oil pan, and rear housing. Tooling (C) will assist with installation of the rear housing.

210 kg (465 lb) . - Place rear housing (2) in position on the cylinder block. Install bolts (1) that hold rear housing (2) in place.
- Install the bolts that hold the engine oil pan to the rear housing.
End By:
- Install the crankshaft rear seal.
- Install the camshaft drive gear.
- Install the manual barring group.
- Install the starting motor.
