Spark Plugs - Remove and Install

NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

  1. Disconnect harness assembly (1) by unscrewing the connector.

  2. Unscrew transformer (2) from the spark plug. Remove the copper washer (not shown).

  3. Remove and inspect boot (3). Replace if necessary.

  4. Use Tooling (A) to remove spark plug (2).

  5. Repeat Steps 1 through 4 for the remaining spark plugs.

Installation Procedure

  1. Use Tooling (A) to install spark plug (4). The spark plug gap should be set at 0.64 ± 0.03 mm (0.025 ± 0.001 inch). Tighten the spark plugs to a torque of 35 ± 5 N·m (25 ± 4 lb ft).

  2. Install boot (3). Install the copper washer (not shown) onto the spark plug and install transformer (2). Tighten transformer (2) 1/8 inch past finger-tight, not exceeding 6.75 N·m (60 lb in).

  3. Connect harness assembly (1) and tighten the connector.

  4. Repeat Steps 1 through 3 for the remaining spark plugs.
