HMI Display Remove and Install
A thumb screw installation tool or a straight-blade screwdriver is required for installation of the display.
- Unpack and check the status of the replacement display upon delivery. If damage is found, notify the Caterpillar dealership.
Note: Place the HMI panel on a stable surface during inspection. Dropping the panel or letting the panel fall may cause damage.
- Clean the mounting surfaces of the cabinet where the panel is to be installed.
- Place the HMI display into the cutout of the cabinet.

(11) Slotted thumb screw - Secure the HMI display in position by screwing the slotted thumb screw (11) clockwise. The built-in cam locks (10) will flip up and tighten against the stainless steel terminal mounting ring and panel cabinet. Tighten the 12 cam locks to
.7 ± 0.2 N·m (6.2 ± 1.8 lb in) .Note: There are 12 thumb screws to be tightened to secure the display.

(23) Ethernet - Connect the cables in the specified order according to the following information and steps. Refer also to Illustration 4.
The HMI display must be brought to ambient temperature before power is applied to the display. If condensation forms, ensure that the display is dry before connecting power.
Ensure that the display and the controller system have the same electrical grounding, that is, the same reference voltage level. If the same reference voltage is not used, errors in communication may occur.
Ensure that the voltage and polarity of the power source is correct.
Separate high-voltage cables from signal and supply cables. The high-voltage cables can cause problems for signal cables.
Shielded communication cables are recommended.
- Connect the grounding cable from the lower door ground connection to the cabinet ground connection (21).
- Connect the grounding cable from the HMI display (16) to the upper door ground connection (15). Use an M5 screw and a grounding cable that is as short as possible. The wiring must be sized according to local electrical codes.
- Connect the Ethernet cable (23). The Ethernet cable is connected to the display (16) and to the A5:M6 control (17).
- Connect cable (20) from the 24 VDC power supply (19) to the HMI display (16).
Note: A 14 to 20 (2.08 – 0.52 mm2) gage wire must be used for the 24 VDC power wiring.
- Carefully remove the laminated film that is over the display. The film is to avoid static electricity that could damage the pane.
