XQ400 Power Module Caterpillar

Ignition System Timing - Check/Adjust

Usage:

XQG400 AL5
Engine timing should be set by following Special Instructions, REHS6590.

A timing calibration must be performed on the engine if the ECM has been replaced and the copy configuration function is not used. Also, the timing must be calibrated if work has been performed on the front gear train of the engine.

The offset is programmed into the electronic control module (ECM) via the Cat Electronic Technician (ET).

An engine speed/timing sensor is used to detect the torque control of the camshaft. The signal is provided to the ECM.

Perform the procedure described in Systems Operation Troubleshooting Testing and Adjusting, KENR9788, "Ignition Timing - Adjust".
