Truck engines equipped with the 39 L (41 qt) increased capacity sumps must have additional oil in the case. On Page 13, in the Dipsticks Calibration section, Step 3, the NOTE should read as follows.
NOTE: Additional oil is required with the increased capacity 7W0328 Oil And Filter Group [4W8584 (rear sump), 4W8590 (front sump) Oil Level Gauge Assemblies]. Fill the crankcase with 33 L (35 qt) of oil.
If the engine is equipped with the increased capacity sumps, the preventive maintenance schedule must also be changed. On Page 47, in the Maintenance Management Schedule under the PM Level 1 column, the "Engine Oil & Filters" and "Valve Lash" maintenance should be performed "Every 40 000 km (25,000 mi) or 17 000 L (4400 gal) of fuel, or 500 Hours, whichever comes first. However, all other PM Level 1 maintenance items should be performed at the "Every 20 000 km (12,500 mi) or 8500 L (2200 gal) of fuel or 250 Hours, whichever comes first.
