Installing the 387-8211 Thermostatic Valve Gp and the 387-8214 Thermostatic Valve Gp onto C175 Engines{135V, 7610} Caterpillar

Generator Set:

C175-20 (S/N: BXR1-UP)

Introduction

Use this procedure to install the 387-8211 Thermostatic Valve Gp or the 387-8214 Thermostatic Valve Gp .

The 399-8134 Electric Motor Kit and 399-8135 Motor Kit are available to retrofit current engines using original electronic thermostat groups. Refer to Table 1 for the parts list.

1. Remove bolts (1) .

2. Remove cover (2)

3. Remove bolts (3) and washers (4) .

4. Disconnect connector (A) .

5. Remove electric motor (5) .

6. Remove bolts (6) and washers (7). Remove control module (8) .

7. Remove bolts (9) from the thermostat valve housing.

8. Remove motor housing (10) .

Installing the New Thermostat Groups

1. Install one new gasket (11) onto the valve housing.

2. Reuse the bolts (9) that were previously removed.

3. Install the new motor housing (12), attach the housing to the valve housing using bolts (9) .

4. Install O-ring (13) .

5. Install electric motor (14) into the motor housing (12). Attach the motor to the valve housing using four bolts (15) and four washers (4) .

6. Install one gasket (12) onto the motor housing.

7. Install fitting (17) into motor housing cover (16) .

8. Install the motor wiring harness connector into the motor housing cover.

9. Attach the connector to the housing cover using two bolts (18) .

10. Attach motor housing cover (16) to the motor housing using four bolts (19) .

11. Install control module (20) using four bolts (3) and four washers (4) .

12. Attach two clips (21) to the motor housing using one bolt (22) and one washer (23) .

13. Install hose clamp (24) onto hose (25) .

14. Install assembled hose (25) onto fitting (17) .

15. Install clip (26) onto hose (25) .

16. Attach clip (26) to the front housing using nut (27) .

17. Install heat shrink tubing (29) and (30) onto wiring harness (28) .

18. Connect wiring harness (28) from the thermostat motor connector to the control module.

19. Using a heat gun, shrink the shrink tubes over the connectors.
