Engine News SEBD9932, 7 March 2014, "Special Instructions Are Available for Retrofitting the Low Emission Kits on Certain G3516 Engines". The article was revised to add information regarding kit installation parameters.

Refer to Special Instructions, REHS7856, "Retrofitting for Low Emissions on Certain G3516 1400 RPM Engines " for more information.

The Special Instruction describes updating the G3516 Engines with new air cleaners, air lines, aftercooler, auxiliary lines, gas shutoff valve, oil cooler, temperature regulators, turbocharger oil lines, turbocharger water lines, turbochargers, and water lines.

This upgrade provides an economic solution to enable engine operation at 0.5 or 1.0 g/bhp-hr NOx levels with improved altitude capability.

The low emissions upgrade kit can only be installed on the above G3516 1400 RPM Gas Engines equipped with an Adem 3 ECM, an Air Fuel Ratio Control (AFRC), and a NOx sensor (WPW01500 + serial number configuration). The kit is designed for a fuel lower heat value (LHV) range of 900-1200 btu/scf. For fuels outside of this range, the dealer should submit a special rating request (SRR) through the application support center (ASC).
