Calibration for the Inching Pedal
This procedure allows the calibration of the inching pedal. The inching pedal must be calibrated in order to ensure that the pedal is operating properly. The calibration also prevents false diagnostics. Follow the steps in order to perform the calibration.
- Turn the keyswitch to the OFF position.
- Place the shifter in the NEUTRAL position. The inching pedal is in the fully released position.
- Turn the keyswitch to the ON position. Wait for 4 seconds.
- Press and hold the inching pedal for 4 seconds.
Note: The limit switch must toggle while the inching pedal is firmly pressed.
- Slowly release the inching pedal.
- Repeat Test Step 4 and Test Step 5 three times.
- A message should appear after the pedal is pressed four times. The message should indicate that the calibration is complete. A diagnostic code may be active if the message does not appear. Check for a diagnostic code for the sensor and the switch. Verify that both of the components are working correctly.
- If a diagnostic code is active for the switch or the sensor, perform the correct procedure for the diagnostic code. Verify that the diagnostic code is no longer active. Once the diagnostic code has been cleared, perform the calibration procedure for the inching pedal.
Note: This calibration may be performed whenever the machine is powered. However, it is not necessary to perform the calibration at each start-up. The values of the calibration are stored to a permanent memory in the ECM. The calibration is required when the hardware of the inching pedal is adjusted. This calibration is also required when any part of the assembly for the inching pedal is replaced.
