Engine Speed/Timing Sensor - Clean/Inspect

Camshaft Speed/Timing Sensor

Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the harness assembly.

  2. Remove the bolt and the sensor.

  3. Remove the O-ring seal from the sensor.

Procedure for Cleaning and Inspecting

Check the condition of the plastic end of the sensor for wear and for contaminants. Clean the metal shavings and other debris from the face of the sensor.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install a new O-ring seal on the sensor. Lubricate the O-ring seal with clean engine oil.

  2. Position the sensor in the housing and install the bolt.

  3. Connect the harness assembly.

Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the harness assembly.

  2. Remove the bolt and the sensor.

  3. Remove the O-ring seal from the sensor.

  2. Install the position sensor in the front housing and install the bolt.
