Data Link

Usage:

CX31 D9F

SAE J1939

A SAE J1939 compliant data link is required for communication with service tool (Cat ET), engines, anti-lock brake (ABS), and traction control systems (TCS), as well as instrument clusters, electronic control units, and other devices that use this communications protocol.

The messages detailed below are supported.

The SAE J1939 data link provides a method by which the transmission can limit speed/torque of engine or do a speed override of the engine.

Using the SAE J1939 data link, the transmission can send TSC1 messages to the engine to limit the torque output of the engine during a shift. This may be needed for protecting the transmission mechanical parts or it could be used just to improve the shift quality. There are two different needs for torque/speed limiting. One is during the shifts, the second type of torque limiting is needed by the transmission when the transmission is at stall condition. The engine speed will be limited to keep too high of a torque from being transmitted through the transmission.

SAE J1587

The SAE J1587 data link is supported for instrument cluster communication. The J1587 data link is not used in order to broadcast any diagnostic information.
