Introduction
The following procedure is used in order to install the air seals that are included in the 337-7215 Seal Kit onto the aftercoolers of G3500C and G3500E Engines.
Do not perform any procedures in this publication or order any parts until you understand the information that is contained in this publication.
Parts that are Included in the 337-7215 Seal Kit
Illustration 1 | g02100342 |
(1) Air seals (2) Gasket for 3/4 inch connection (3) Gasket for 1 5/16 inch connection (4) O-ring for 3/4 inch connection (5) O-ring for 1 5/16 inch connection (6) Small O-rings for water inlet and water outlet (7) Large O-rings for water inlet and water outlet |
The kit includes gaskets and O-ring seals that can be used for the aftercooler and the water lines as the gaskets and seals are needed.
Seal Installation Procedure
- Remove the protective tape from air seals (1) .

(1) Air seals |
- Measure dimension (A) of the aftercooler and bend the new air seals for a proper fit within the aftercooler.

(A) Dimension for air seals (B) Locations for welds (top of air seals) (1) Air seals |
- Place the air seal in position. Leave a 2 mm (0.080 inch) gap between the bottom of the air seal and aftercooler core.
- Secure the air seal and weld the top edge of the air seal to the aftercooler in the five locations (B) that are shown in Illustration 3.
- Seal the outside perimeter of the air seal with Loctite 5290 RTV in the 300 milliliter bottle or an equivalent. Refer to Illustration 4 for an example of the installed seals.
Note: Do not use the sealant on the air seal's welds.
Note: The 2 mm (0.080 inch) gap between the bottom of the air seal and aftercooler core must be filled with the sealant.
