Repair Of Damaged Or Worn Balancer Shaft Bores{1201,0663,1220}

Usage:

D379 Industrial And Marine Engines

Repair of damaged or worn balancer shaft bores can now be made with a fabricated cast iron sleeve according to the following procedure. The cast iron sleeve (shown with dimensions in Illustration 1) and the balancer shaft bore on the cylinder block must be machined to the dimensions given in the chart. Next, thoroughly clean the sleeve and the bore with Locquic Primer. Freeze the sleeve for at least 4 hours and put Loctite, Type 640 or 9S3265 Retainer Compound in the bore in the block. Press the sleeve into the bore and fasten it with the 8-32 threaded rods shown in Illustration 2. Drill oil holes to the given dimension. Grind the ends of the sleeve and the 8-32 threaded rods smooth. Make the finish bore size of the sleeve 1.5972" ± .0003" (40.57 mm ± 0.008 mm).
