Serial Numbers Used Instead Of Test Numbers On Power Shift Transmissions{3150,7557}

Usage:

All Caterpillar Machines With Power Shift Transmissions

Serial numbers are to be used on power shift transmissions in all Caterpillar products so equipped. A separate series of serial numbers will be used for each transmission arrangement. This identification by serial number is a replacement for the transmission test number, which will no longer be used. The new serial numbers will permit better control and identification of specific transmissions, and a positive reference for published information.

A new serial number plate on the transmission will show the transmission serial number and arrangement number, and the serial number of the torque converter. A new master plate on the instrument panel will show the transmission serial number and arrangement number, in addition to the machine and engine numbers. Both new plates are shown in the illustration.

The new serial numbers will be used first on D3 Tractors and 931 Loaders. They will be put in effect on wheel loaders, wheel tractors and trucks, and on other models later.

New serial number plates.
