C7 through C32 Marine Engines with a Plate and Frame Heat Exchanger that is provided by Caterpillar require a minimum of 30 percent mixture of glycol in the coolant. This minimum mixture will prevent cavitation of the cooling system components. A 50 percent mixture of glycol is highly recommended.
Note: Water or water that is mixed with Supplemental Coolant Additive (SCA) are not approved coolants for use with C7 through C32 Marine Engines that are cooled by a heat exchanger. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU6251, "Caterpillar Commercial Diesel Engine Fluids Recommendations" for additional information.
