  1. Install Tooling (A) at Locations (X). Install the gasket on Tooling (A).

  2. Attach a suitable lifting device to aftercooler (8). The weight of aftercooler (8) is approximately 35 kg (77 lb).

  3. Position aftercooler (8) on the engine and install bolts (4). Remove Tooling (A) and install the remaining bolts. Tighten the bolts according to the numerical sequence that is shown in Illustration 2. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 31 ± 3 N·m (23 ± 2 lb ft).

  4. Connect harness assembly (3) and harness assembly (2).

  5. Install bracket (9). Connect tube (10) to aftercooler (8).

  6. Connect hose (11) to aftercooler (8).

  7. Install tube assembly (1) on the engine.

  8. Connect tube assembly (6) to aftercooler (8). Install the retainers and bolts (7).

  9. Reposition the bracket for the air inlet heater solenoid and install bolts (5).

  10. Install the hose assemblies on the unit injector hydraulic pump and the fuel transfer pump, if necessary.

  11. Fill the aftercooler with coolant. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant - Change".
