Removal Procedure

Start By:

1. Remove the rear tires.

1. Drain the rear axle into a suitable container.

2. Disconnect grease line (2). Repeat for the opposite side.

3. Remove bolts (1) and disconnect the drive shaft.

4. Disconnect hose assemblies (3) and (4).

5. Position suitable cribbing and a jack under the rear axle. The weight of the rear axle is approximately 376 kg (830 lb). Remove bolts (5) and slowly lower the rear axle from the machine.

Installation Procedure

1. Install the rear axle in the reverse of removal.

   1. Tighten bolts (5) to a maximum torque of 350 N·m (258 lb ft) to ensure full engagement of the trunnion dowels into the frame. Loosen bolts (5) by a minimum of one full turn. Tighten bolts (5) in the sequence shown to 340 ± 40 N·m (250 ± 30 lb ft). Turn bolts (5) in the sequence shown an additional 180° ± 5°.

2. Clean the bearing cap and yoke mounting faces of the drive shaft. Snug bolts (1) and then tighten bolts (1) to a torque of 60 ± 7 N·m (44 ± 5 lb ft).
