The Engine Oil Filter Group is Improved on Certain 627K and 637K Wheel Tractor Scrapers {1306, 1308} Caterpillar

637K (S/N: WTS115-UP; WTT102-UP; WTX101-UP; WTY100-UP)

Description Of Change: The engine oil filter group is improved on the rear scraper engine of machines listed above. Engine oil filter group is improved with the plunger relief valve to avoid oil bypass during the machine normal operating condition. The addition of these parts improves the filtering efficiency of the filter assembly by adjusting the oil bypass rate.

The following changes are effective with all products after the listed serial numbers.

New 392-9208 Valve Plunger, 4N-8150 Spring, and 7M-8485 O-Ring Seal are part of 386-9385 Engine Oil Filter Gp and 465-0950 Engine Oil Filter Gp in the installation arrangement.

(A) Plug assembly

1. Remove plug assembly (A) from the bypass valve port.

2. Install valve plunger (1) into the bypass valve port. Refer to Illustration 3 for proper orientation to install the valve plunger (1).

3. Install spring (2) into the open end of the valve plunger (1) as shown in Illustration 3.

   Note: O-Ring seal (3) on the plug assembly (A) can be replaced, if required.

4. Install Plug assembly (A) into the bypass valve port as shown in Illustration 3.
