Start By:

  1. Remove the left side engine enclosure.


NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

  1. Use Tooling (A) to remove engine oil filter (3).

  2. Remove bolts (2), base (1), and the gasket.

  3. Remove stud (4) from filter base (1).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install engine oil filter (3) and base (1) in the reverse order of removal

    1. Tighten bolts (2) to a torque of 22 N·m (16 lb ft)

    2. Before fitting the stud (4), apply Tooling (B) around the circumference of the connector. Tighten the stud (4) into filter base to a torque of 35 ± 5 N·m (26 ± 4 lb ft).
