Air/Fuel Ratio Control Caterpillar

Control Target Setpoints

Usage:

G3412 6ZM

Displaying and Adjusting the Control Target Setpoints

The control's target for the exhaust NOX level is calculated from the base setpoint and an offset according to the operating rpm and the inlet manifold air pressure.

Viewing the Desired Base Setpoint Value

"SET POINTS" key - Press this key in order to view the base desired target for the control.

The "Des NOx setting" screen is displayed upon the first press of the "SET POINTS" key. This value represents the base target for the control of exhaust NOX in closed loop mode. In setup mode 1, the keypad can be used to adjust the desired base NOX. The default value is 160 ppm. The adjustable range is 0 to 3000.

Viewing the NOX Offset Values of the Table

"SET POINTS" key - Press this key again in order to access the values for the target offset table. These values are used to adjust the control setpoint for various speed and load conditions. Offset values are added to the base desired target. The target value that is set by the control is always equal to or greater than the base desired target.

Table 1 and Table 2 list the air/fuel ratio control's default settings for the offsets.

Table 1 describes the ranges for the engine rpm and the inlet manifold air pressure for G3412 engines. Table 2 describes the ranges for the engine rpm and the inlet manifold air pressure for G3408 engines. The corresponding offsets for the operating conditions are listed. The rpm range is between 1200 and 1900 rpm in 100 rpm increments. The range of the inlet manifold air pressure is between 35 to 125 kPa in 10 kPa increments.

Note: The values for inlet manifold air pressure that are listed in the tables below are not absolute pressure.
