NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


  1. Drain the coolant. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change" for the correct draining and filling procedures.

  2. Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to cover assembly (1). The weight cover assembly (1) is approximately 33 kg (73 lb).

  3. Remove the bolts and the washers and use Tooling (A) and the suitable lifting device in order to remove cover assembly (1).

  4. Disconnect hoses (2) from radiator core (4).

  5. Remove bolts (3) and the washers. Remove retainer (5) from radiator core (4).

  6. Attach Tooling (B) and a suitable lifting device to radiator core (4). The weight of radiator core (4) is approximately 27 kg (60 lb). Use Tooling (B) and the suitable lifting device in order to remove radiator core (4) from the machine.

  7. Remove seal (6) from the lower radiator tank.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install radiator core (4) in the reverse order of removal.
