Start By:

  1. Connect the steering frame lock.


NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

High hydraulic system pressure. To avoid personal injury, do not remove any hydraulic system lines, taps, or parts until all pressure has been relieved.

    Typical Example

  1. Use Tooling (A) to support lift arms (1).

  2. Release hydraulic pressure from the system.

  3. Loosen bolts (2) and remove covers (3).

  4. Disconnect harness assemblies (7). Disconnect hose assemblies (4) and (8). Remove bolts (5) and ride control manifold (6).

  5. Remove nut (9). Remove coil assembly (10). Remove valve (11). Remove O-ring seals (12). Remove backup ring (13). Repeat for opposite side.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install ride control manifold (6) in the reverse order of removal.

    1. Tighten valve (11) to a torque of 34 ± 1 N·m (25 ± 1 lb ft). Tighten nuts (9) to a torque of 8.2 ± 1.4 N·m (72.5 ± 12.4 lb in).
