Exhaust Cooler (NRS) - Remove and Install

Start By:

  1. Remove the turbocharger.

  1. Drain the coolant. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change" for the correct draining and filling procedures.

  2. Loosen clamp (2) and disconnect air tube assembly (1).

    Note: Do not reuse clamp (2). Discard clamp (2).

  3. Remove hose assemblies (5). Remove two bolts (3) and bracket assembly (4).

  4. Remove elbow assembly (6) and the O-ring seal.

  5. Loosen clamp (7) and remove bellows (8).

  6. Remove water tube assembly (9) and the gasket.

  7. Remove stud bolts (11), bolt (12), bolts (13), and exhaust cooler (10).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install exhaust gas cooler (10) in the reverse order of removal.

    1. Install bellows (8) with the flow arrow pointing towards the exhaust cooler. Total misalignment of the bellows is 1.50 mm (0.060 inch) lateral and 1.50 mm (0.060 inch) axial.

    2. Tighten clamp (7) to a torque of 7.5 ± 1 N·m (66 ± 9 lb in).

    3. Apply Tooling (A) to the bores of elbow assembly (6) and the O-ring seal.

    4. Apply Tooling (A) to clamp (2) and tighten to a torque of 8.5 ± 2 N·m (75 ± 18 lb in).
