Self-Diagnostics
电子控制模块（ECM）具有检测电子系统和发动机运行故障的能力。 检测到故障后，生成故障代码。 同时也可能会因之产生报警。 ECM有两种编码：
- 诊断
- 事件
诊断代码 - 检测到电子系统故障后，ECM 会产生诊断代码。 诊断代码指示电路中的具体故障。
诊断编码可以有两个不同的状态。
- 主动
- 记录
活动编码 - 活动诊断编码指示已经检测到活动故障。 活动编码需要立即关注。 一定要首先维修活动编码然后再维修记录编码。
记录的代码 - 每一个产生的编码都被存储在ECM的永久存储器中。 这些编码被记录下来。
事件代码 - 事件代码是因为检测到发动机异常工况而产生的。 例如，如果机油压力过低，就会产生一个事件代码。 在此情况下，事件代码表明故障现象。
记录的代码可能并不意味着需要修理。 故障可能只是暂时存在。 这种故障可能在记录代码时就解决了。 系统通电后，每当断开一个部件，就可能产生一个现行诊断代码。 当此部件被重新装回时，该编码将不再是活动编码。 记录的代码可能对间歇性故障的诊断和排除有帮助。 记录编码也可以用来检查发动机和电子系统的性能。
