Two New Cold Weather Fuel Heaters Available {1296}

Usage:

3208, 3306, 3306B, 3406, 3406B Truck Engines

Wax and water crystallization can occur during winter operation when the ambient temperature drops below the diesel fuel cloud point. This can result in plugged fuel filters or fuel tank fittings and possible engine shutdown. Two new fuel heater kits are available from Caterpillar to assist cold weather fuel flow. These new fuel heater kits are low cost and easy to install.

The new 7C3557 Fuel Heater Kit will help prevent diesel fuel filters from being plugged with wax and water crystals. This kit is less than half the cost of electric or jacket water powered heaters. The 7C3557 Fuel Heater Kit uses hot return fuel to blend with and warm the cold fuel from the tank. This blending allows the use of No. 2 diesel fuel throughout the year by providing a fuel temperature above the cloud point of most North American diesel fuels and ambient temperatures. Features of the 7C3557 Fuel Heater Kit include:

...Effectively removes air from the return fuel prior to blending.

...Easy to install. No jacket water lines or electrical connections or switches to install.

...No chance of coolant leaks to the fuel.

...No drain on the electrical system or batteries.

...Built-in temperature regulation. The unit automatically shuts itself off when fuel temperature reaches 32°C (90°F). This eliminates the chance of power loss due to the fuel heating system being accidentally left on.

The new 7C3558 Heater is available for more severe low temperature operations. It can help prevent heavy wax build-up or ice crystal formations in fuel lines and fittings. The 7C3558 Heater is an electrically heated fuel line fitting that can be installed where fuel line elbows typically freeze up, such as the first 90° elbow out of the fuel tank.

The new 7C3557 Fuel Heater Kit and the new 7C3558 Heater can be low cost solutions to your cold weather fuel problems. Whether your problem is common filter plugging or in more severe situations, fuel line freeze-up; your Caterpillar dealer has a product to meet your needs.
