Usage:
3508, 3512, 3516 Industrial And Generator Set Engines With Deep Oil Pans Installed On Industrial Rails With Spring Isolators
Description of Change: If the above engines are equipped with the deep sump oil pan, and installed on industrial rails with spring isolators, there is interference between the oil pan and spring isolators. To prevent this, additional engine mounting groups are available for use between the engine mounting rails and the spring isolators. See Illustration 1.
Illustration 1. Location of new mounts and hardware.
Adaptable To: The new mounting groups are directly adaptable to earlier 3508, 3512, and 3516 Industrial and Generator Set Engines. The engine and its driven component will be raised 35 mm (1.4"), and the spring isolators will be moved outward 45 mm (1.8").
NOTE: If 255 mm (10") rails are used, install a spacer under each isolator to prevent the deep oil pan from resting on the floor. See Illustration 1. (Or, provide a well for the pan.) No spacers are needed with 330 mm (13") rails.
Illustrations 2 and 3 and the charts show the locations of the mounting bolt holes in the rails if these additional mounting groups are used.
Illustration 2. Hole locations in mounting rails if the mounting group is used on 3508 Engines.
Illustration 3. Hole locations in mounting rails if the mounting group is used on 3512 or 3516 Engines.
