Start By:

  1. Remove the drive shaft.
  2. Radiator guard.
  3. Remove cab.
  4. Remove clean emissions module.

  1. Drain the power train oil into a suitable container for storage and disposal.

  1. Turn the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position.

  1. Install Tooling (A) onto the hydraulic tank. Attach an air supply hose onto Tooling (A) . Apply 345 ± 69 kPa (50 ± 10 psi) of air. This procedure will pull vacuum on the hydraulic system.

  1. Disconnect hose assemblies (1) , (2) , (3) , (4) , and (5) .

  1. Disconnect hose assemblies (6) , (7) , and (8) .

  1. Remove clips (9) .

  1. Disconnect hose assembly (10) , harness assembly (11) , hose assembly (12) , harness assembly (13) , and hose assembly (14) .

  1. Disconnect hose assembly (15) and remove clip (16) .

  1. Remove clip (20) , remove and relocate refrigerant accumulator (21) , and disconnect ground cable (22) .

  1. Remove clip (23) , remove and relocate bracket (24) , remove and relocate refrigerant dryer (25) , and remove clip (26) .

  1. Disconnect hose assembly (27) and clip (28) .

  1. Remove tube assembly (29) . Remove hose assemblies (30) . Disconnect cable assembly (31) and harness assembly (32) .

  1. Remove temperature sensor (49) .

  1. Attach a suitable lifting device to pumps (54) . The approximate weight of pumps (54) is 82 kg (180lb). Remove bolts (53) and pumps (54) .

  1. Disconnect hose assembly (55) .

  1. Remove tube assembly (56) . Disconnect hose assemblies (57) , (58) , and (61) . Remove clips (59) and (60) .

  1. Install Tooling (B) to the engine.

  1. Remove engine mounting bolts (64) .

  1. Repeat Step 31 for the other side.

  1. Remove engine and torque converter (66) . The weight of engine and torque converter (66) is approximately 1678 kg (3700 lb).

  1. Support engine and torque converter (66) with Tooling (C) .

  1. Disconnect hose assembly (67) . Remove bracket (68) and cable strap (69) .

  1. Remove clamp (70) and tube assembly (71) .

  1. Remove clip (72) .

  1. Remove harness assembly (73) and tube assembly (74) .

  1. Install Tooling (D) and a suitable lifting device. The weight of the torque converter is approximately 193 kg (425lb).

  1. Remove bolts (75) and use pusher bolts in order to remove the torque converter.

  1. Remove retaining ring (76) and sun gear (77) .

Installation Procedure

  1. Install engine and torque converter (66) in the reverse order of removal.

    1. Tighten bolts (65) to a torque of 520 ± 70 N·m (385 ± 50 lb ft).

    1. Tighten bolts (64) to a torque of 270 ± 40 N·m (200 ± 30 lb ft).

    1. Tight sensor (49) to a torque of 20 ± 3 N·m (15± 2lb ft).
