Electronic Control Module (ECM) - Remove and Install

Usage:

Removal Procedure

Start By:

  1. Remove left engine side guard.

------ WARNING! ------

Accidental machine starting can cause injury or death to personnel working on the machine.

To avoid accidental machine starting, turn the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position and remove the key. If the machine is not equipped with a battery disconnect switch, disconnect the battery cables from the battery and tape the battery clamps.

Place a do not operate tag at the battery disconnect switch location to inform personnel that the machine is being worked on.

  1. Turn the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position.

  1. Remove bolts (1) (not shown). Remove bolt (2) and position the accumulator and hose assemblies out of the way.

    Note: Put identification marks on the harness assemblies for installation purposes.

  1. Remove nut (3) and loosen internal hex bolt (4) and position the harness assembly out of the way.

  1. Loosen internal hex bolt (5) and position the harness assembly out of the way.

  1. Remove cable straps (6) and disconnect harness assembly (7) .

  1. Loosen the internal hex bolt and disconnect harness assembly (8) .

  1. Remove the cable straps and disconnect harness assemblies (9) and (10) .

  1. Remove bolt (13) and position the cable assembly out of the way.

  1. Remove nuts (11) and (12), and remove the bracket assembly (14) .

  1. Remove stud bolts (15), the washers and the isolation mounts, and remove the engine control module (16) .

Installation Procedure

  1. Install electronic control module (16) in the reverse order.

    1. Tighten the internal hex bolts that are located in harness assemblies (4), (5), and (8) to a torque of 7 ± 0.5 N·m (62 ± 4 lb in).
