There are seven copper input cable landings in the Input/Output Cabinet. Each of the cable landings have a tin coating. There is one landing for each phase of the three-phase input utility power. There is one landing for each phase of the three-phase output power. There is one landing for the ground. Refer to Illustration 1 for cable landing locations.
The input cable landings are designed to accommodate 500 kcmil cable to 750 kcmil cable.
The installer will punch the appropriate hole pattern for trade size conduit depending on the size and number of input cables.
Cable Landing Phase Bar Removal
- Perform steps in the Systems Operation, Testing and Adjusting, "Internal Component Preremoval Steps (Input/Output Cabinet)" in order to de-energize the system and gain access to internal components.
- Disconnect the utility input cables from the cable landing.
- Disconnect the wires that are connected to the back of the cable landing.
- Remove the capacitor banks that are located at the back of the cable landing.
Refer to Systems Operation, Testing and Adjusting, RENR7654, "Capacitor (Input/Output Cabinet)" for removal steps.
- Loosen the back three bolts that connect the landing to the cabinet.
- Loosen the front three bolts that connect the landing to the vertical bus bar leading into the circuit breaker.
- Loosen the four bolts that connect the Maintenance Bypass output bus bars to the K5 cable landing.
Note: Only for output cable landing removal with Maintenance Bypass Option installed.
- Remove the cable landing.
Cable Landing Phase Bar Installation
- Place the cable landing in position.
Refer to Illustration 1.
- Attach the front landing to the vertical bus bar that extends from the top of the circuit breaker. Accomplish this task by inserting three bolts with the heads of the bolts toward the rear of the cabinet.
- Attach washers and nuts in the order indicated in Illustration 2.
Note: In all cases, the side of the belleville washer that curves inward should be placed facing the bus bar.

- Insert three bolts at the back of the cable landing.
Place bolt and steel washer through the following components: the cable landing and a red insulating spacer Attach the bolts to the threaded huck rivets at the back of the cabinet.
- Attach the vertical bus bars that extend from the Maintenance Bypass Cabinet to the output cable landing. Use four bolts through the right side of the bus bars.
Note: Step 5 is for output cable landing installation with Maintenance Bypass Option.
- Secure the bus bars via the attachment method that is shown in Illustration 2.
Note: Step 6 is for output cable landing installation with Maintenance Bypass Option.
- Attach the capacitor banks that are located at the back of the cable landing.
Refer to Systems Operation, Testing and Adjusting, RENR7654, "Capacitor (Input/Output Cabinet)" for installation steps.
- Attach the wires leading to the fuses and circuit breakers to the pegs at the back of the cable landing.

- Attach the utility input cables to the bus bar.
- Tighten all bus bar hex nuts to 150 N·m (110 lb ft).
- Tighten the utility input cable hex nuts to appropriate specifications.
Note: Always tighten the hex nut while holding the bolt in position.
Cable Landing Ground Bar Removal
- Perform steps in the Systems Operation, Testing and Adjusting, "Internal Component Preremoval Steps (Input/Output Cabinet)" in order to de-energize the system and gain access to internal components.
- Disconnect the utility input cables from the ground cable landing that is located at the top of the rear panel of the cabinet.
- Loosen the four bolts that connect the landing to the cabinet frame.
- Remove the cable landing.
Cable Landing Ground Bar Installation
- Place the ground cable landing in position at the top of the rear panel in the cabinet.
Refer to Illustration 3.
