Assembly Procedure

Improper assembly of parts that are spring loaded can cause bodily injury. To prevent possible injury, follow the established assembly procedure and wear protective equipment.

1. Apply Tooling (A) to the base end of stud (6). Install stud (6). Tighten stud (6) to a torque of 68 ± 7 N·m (50 ± 5 lb ft).

   Note: Check the O-ring seals for wear or for damage. If necessary, replace the O-ring seals.

2. Install valve (5). Install spring (7). Install O-ring seal (8) onto plug (9). Install plug (9).

3. Install valve (4). Install spring (3). Install O-ring seal (2) onto plug (1). Install plug (1).

End By:

1. Install the engine oil filter base and the oil cooler. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Oil Filter Base and Oil Cooler - Install".
